Anadrol Overview

Anadrol (oxymetholone) is a synthetic oral anabolic steroid derived from dihydrotestosterone (DHT). First introduced in the 1960s, Anadrol is known for its potent anabolic activity and its ability to stimulate erythropoiesis, the production of red blood cells.

Medical Use of Anadrol

Anadrol is indicated for the treatment of anemias caused by deficient red blood cell production. These include acquired and congenital aplastic anemia, myelofibrosis, and hypoplastic anemias resulting from the administration of myelotoxic drugs. Anadrol works in part by increasing the production of erythropoietin.

Non-Medical Use of Anadrol

Outside of clinical settings, Anadrol is misused in bodybuilding and strength sports for rapid gains in muscle mass and strength. Non-medical use carries significant health risks and is illegal without a prescription in many jurisdictions.

Safety Information

Anadrol is 17-alpha-alkylated and carries risks of hepatotoxicity, including peliosis hepatis and liver tumors, as well as adverse lipid changes and suppression of endogenous testosterone.
