Dianabol Overview

Dianabol (methandienone, also known as methandrostenolone) is a synthetic oral anabolic steroid derived from testosterone. Introduced in the late 1950s, Dianabol is 17-alpha-alkylated, allowing it to remain active when taken orally.

Medical Use of Dianabol

Historically, Dianabol was prescribed to promote protein synthesis, nitrogen retention, and weight gain in patients with muscle-wasting conditions, and to support recovery from illness. Dianabol is no longer approved in the United States and most Western markets, and its medical use today is very limited.

Non-Medical Use

Dianabol is one of the most widely misused anabolic steroids in bodybuilding, sought for rapid gains in muscle size and strength. Non-medical use is illegal without a prescription in many countries and is banned under the WADA Prohibited List.

Safety Information

Dianabol can cause liver toxicity, elevated blood pressure, adverse cholesterol changes, and suppression of natural testosterone. Because it converts to estrogen, Dianabol may cause water retention and gynecomastia. In women, it can cause lasting virilization.
