Clenbuterol Overview

Clenbuterol hydrochloride is a long-acting beta-2 adrenergic agonist and bronchodilator. Clenbuterol relaxes the smooth muscle of the airways, making breathing easier in patients with obstructive respiratory conditions.

Medical Use of Clenbuterol

In certain countries, clenbuterol is licensed for the treatment of asthma, chronic bronchitis, and other conditions involving bronchospasm. In veterinary medicine, clenbuterol is approved for treating airway obstruction in horses. Clenbuterol is not approved for human use in the United States.

Non-Medical Use

Clenbuterol is widely misused for weight loss and by athletes seeking fat reduction and muscle retention. Clenbuterol is banned in sport under the WADA Prohibited List, and its use in livestock is prohibited in many countries.

Safety Information

Side effects of clenbuterol include rapid heart rate, tremor, anxiety, insomnia, and low potassium levels. High doses can cause heart rhythm disturbances and cardiac damage. Clenbuterol should be used with caution in patients with heart disease, hypertension, or hyperthyroidism.
